While most were thinking of winding down on Friday night, two Mighty Greens were embarking on a 36 hour running challenge. Experienced ultra runner Mark Andow and Louise Dalton, who was aiming to run 100 miles for charity, set off at 9pm in Newnham Park, Plymouth on the first of many 5 mile off road, hilly circuits.
Saturday saw 30+ Mighty Green juniors and adults take part in Tipton’s River and Rail fun run and 10k. SRCs’ Adrian Harris, Catherine Hylton, Jo Earlam and Naomi Garrick all played a part in organising the event which raises funds for Tipton Playing Field Association.
It took over 12 months in the planning for SRC’s Bob Huntington but Sunday saw the Mighty Green Dragons team compete in Devon Air Ambulances’ Dragon Boat race.
To celebrate the Summer Solstice Louise Dalton really put herself to the test running her furthest distance yet and took part in Climb SW’s 100k Jurassic Extinction.
Three Mighty Greens took part in LME’s Bradleys 10k Spring on Sunday. The route is 2 laps of Exmouth seafront and is so flat it gives you the opportunity to go for it, which is exactly what Josh Solman did
Exactly one week on from completing the Great West Run half marathon, Clare Luke took part in Winding Paths’ Wray half marathon with fellow Mighty Green Sarah Watkins.
Under near perfect weather conditions, 3,305 runners including a posse from Sidmouth Running Club set off from Exeter Arena to embark on the 40th anniversary Great West half marathon.
Four Sidmouth Running Club juniors took part in the Beer Blazer Fun Run on Sunday, with Reuben Johnson finishing in 4th position in 5:57 out of a field of 82.
On Sunday Rex Wheaton took part in the 1 mile fun run, organised by Honiton Running Club alongside the Ottery 10k.
