Second Female For SRC’s Ella Fletcher

Sidmouth Running Club’s Clare Bray had the privilege of taking part in the Great North Run half marathon, raising money for Sidmouth Hospice at Home.

The Great North Run has been on her bucket list for many years, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was unlike anything she had ever experienced with every aspect of the event exceptionally well organised and the support from spectators was incredible. Along the entire route, there seemed to be a constant stream of encouragement with crowds lining the streets, cheering runners on and creating an unforgettable sense of community. There was not a single section of the course without supporters offering sweets, orange slices, words of encouragement and colourful posters carrying uplifting messages. Their enthusiasm gave runners a real boost, especially during the more challenging miles.

Crossing the finish line was an emotional and rewarding moment for the Mighty Green, who had messages of support from her husband, family, friends and SRC throughout the race.

Clare is delighted to have raised £520.00 for Sidmouth Hospice at Home as well as helping raise awareness of the fantastic work they do within our community.

SRC’s Polly Tomlinson experienced a very busy Cardiff half recently but despite having to dodge and manoeuvre her way around the busy route was delighted to finish in 2:34:00 and raise money and awareness for Devon Air Ambulance.

Much closer to home a group of Mighty Greens took part in AVR’s ColyTen on Sunday, a very scenic, if slightly hilly 10 mile trail run. SRC’s Ella Fletcher worked hard to finish second female with a PB of 1:16:00.
