Summer Running Happened So Fast

In a blink of an eye, the long hot days of Summer trail running are over and members of Sidmouth running club are digging out their Hi-Vis’s and head torches in preparation for the darker road runs ahead. The Juniors are back too after their Summer break and junior leaders Grahame and Donna Womersley-Westlake have a fun, varied plan prepped for them.

The Summer has a habit of disrupting routine but the club has had a good turn out throughout August and enjoyed running through the beautiful landscapes under blue skies and holidaying Mighty Greens seem to find a nearby park run to join in with.

Louise Dalton and Tanya Peters entered the City to Sea 50k event run by Winding Paths.  Louise was first female to finish and second overall in 5:04:08 with Tanya finishing in 13th place in 6:23:21. Fantastic times in interesting weather!

Charles Keen completed the Great North Run in 2:24, his longest distance to date.  The Mighty Green trained hard and was very pleased to finish 245th in his age category 65-69 year old despite recent injuries.

Milly Frankpitt, Christine and Karen Farnham dodged the thunderstorm on Sunday and managed to complete the Lions Budleigh 10k in the dry.

New members of all abilities are always welcome, please visit www.sidmouthrunningclub.co.uk for further information.
