Salmon Run Success For Louise Dalton

Three weeks after finishing 1st female/second place overall in the City to Sea 50km, Louise Dalton, finished in first place overall in the 71km Salmon Run.  The run highlights how salmon are an endangered species and near extinction on the River Exe, the route follows the river from Exmouth to Dulverton.  The Mighty Green completed the rainy run in 6:39:43 and appreciates how hard salmon have to work!

Scott Chown and Brigid McEleney-Smith managed to avoid the rain when they took part in the CapTen (Scott) and Bosun (Brigid). Brigid said it the hardest and hlliest 5.5 miles she has run but the view from the Golden Cap made it all worthwhile.

Tim Swarbrick has enjoyed the Lanzarote Wine Run finishing the 10k in 1:13:22 whilst on holiday.

The SRC juniors were out in force on Sunday taking part in the Honiton Calf and Hungry Hippo.  Always a fun event, with river crossings, cows and mud, the juniors had a blast.  Jasper Peters finished in 6th place in 16:17 and Seth Box finished 15th in 20:49 out of a field of 22 in the Calf ; Marcus Wieffer finished in 7th place in 36:36 out of a field of 23 in the Hungry Hippo with Dylan Sexton 12th in 32:38, Emily Smith 35:12 and Amelia Womersley-Westlake in 45:28. Junior leaders Grahame and Donna Womersley-Westlake, and parents Heather Wieffer and Tanya Peters also ran.

Mighty Greens Ann Cole and Jane Hemsworth entered the Honiton Hippo, Ann for the first time having heard what fun it is.  They weren’t disappointed; running up hills, through muddy water crossings and debating to swim the final river crossing as the water was up to their chests!  They finished in 2:05:20.
