Last weekend six Mighty Greens took part in the Long Distance Walking Associations’ Potter Around The Otter, a 50 mile loop starting and finishing in Budleigh Salterton and taking in Sidmouth, East Hill, Feniton, Newton Poppleford, Woodbury and Exmouth. Mark Andow highly recommends LDWA events as they welcome runners as well as walkers, are good value for money and have well stocked aid stations. With the exception of Dave Wright, who wisely stopped at Feniton due to injury, all Mighty Greens completed the event well within the given 24 hours with Richard Summerhayes and Louise Dalton coming in 1st and 3rd (although not a race), Mark was very pleased to get a new PB, sub 11 hours, 10:59:00 in fact and Grahame and Donna Womersley-Westlake finished in 16:51:00, enjoying the rope swing on East Hill along the way!
Nine Mighty Greens took part in AVR’s ColyTEN on Sunday, a popular multi terrain event with river crossings, mud and hills to negotiate. Adrian Harris was the first male SRC to cross the finish line in 1:37:34 and Naomi Garrick the first female SRC to finish in 1:55:32. Scott Chown knocked an incredible 21 minutes of his 2023 time, finishing with a new PB of 1:44:35. Results: Adrian Harris 1:37:34; Mark Norton 1:38:31; Scott Chown 1:44:35; Naomi Garrick 1:55:32; Deb Cawthera 1:58:01; Don Cawthera 1:58:02; Richard King 2:04:39; Becky Knapman 2:04:40; Becky McDonald 2:04:46.
Have you spotted our juniors out on a Wednesday evening? They have been training hard with hill reps up Jacobs Ladder and logging their fastest mile along the seafront as well as representing the club at local park runs and events.
