Park Runs, 10ks and Dragons?!?

Three Mighty Greens took part in LME’s Bradleys 10k Spring on Sunday. The route is 2 laps of Exmouth seafront and is so flat it gives you the opportunity to go for it, which is exactly what Josh Solman did.  Sporting the new SRC vest, Josh finished in a very quick 43:59 and was able to cheer fellow MG’s Yasmin Salter and Marion Johnson over the line.  Unfortunately, there was a problem with the timing chips so no results at present.

Further up the river the Mighty Green Dragon Boat Racing team had a training session with helm and fellow SRC runner, Bob Huntington. Bob said the team picked up the basics very quickly and crucially locked the timing in when it mattered.  The Mighty Greens were able to have a couple of runs against The Wild Ones and came out on top which was promising.  The fundraising event for Devon Air Ambulance takes place at the end of the month.

SRC parkrun Report 7 June 2025 by Clive Gilbert: 22 Mighty Greens at 10 events: Loads of PBs this week!

All three Mighty Greens at Greendale recorded new best times (Sam Ingram, Catherine Hilton and Kerry Boyle). Two members on their travels, but running regular haunts also registered new PBs – Judith Jeeves (Harrow) and Jack Saunders (University Parks.

All three of our Juniors who were running this week also registered new PBs – Emily Smith (Seaton) and Amelia Westlake and Theo Opie (Haldon). Theo was returning from injury so even more notable.

Emily was joined in Seaton by four other members – Chris Carter, Debbie & Don Cawthera and Steve Saunders making it our most attended event this week. Well done to Debbie for coming 1st in Age Group.

Amelia and Theo were joined at Haldon by Donna and Grahame Womersley-Westlake. For Amelia and Grahame it also marked their 25th parkrun milestones. Just to complete Amelia’s great week – she was 1st in Age Group!

At Exmouth we were represented by Andrew de Gruchy, Lesley Miszewska & David Skinner, and at Cranbrook, Sarah Clapham & Scott Chown.

Jason Blount made good going at Warwick Racecourse – one he’s been hoping to do furlong time…🤦🏻‍♂️. Derek Blackburne returned to a favourite of his – Frogmary Green Farm. I was in The Netherlands completing my first overseas parkrun at a very wet Amsterdamse Bos – but still enjoying the gouda life. The start wasn’t as clogged up as I was expecting and I managed to come first in my Age Group.

This week’s highlights…

Milestones – Amelia & Grahame (25)

New Course PB – Catherine, Kerry, Sam, Judith, Jack, Amelia, Theo & Emily

First in Age Group – Amelia, Debbie & Clive

First Timers – Jason & Clive
