Sidmouth Running Club juniors have had a busy weekend hot on the heels of a demanding hill session on Wednesday’s club night; there really is no stopping them!
Sportiva Event’s Haldon Night Run saw juniors Lucas finish 3rd, Jasper 17th, Amelia finishing 2nd in her age category having knocked 5 minutes off last years’ time and Seth managed a strong finish encouraging his mum up the hill! Mighty Green (and mum to Lucas) Polly, had a fabulous run finishing first female and 10th overall. Congratulations to all the juniors and parents who ran this event.
With a nights sleep to recover junior leaders Grahame and Donna Womersley-Westlake and daughter Amelia were back on the starting line to run the Axmouth Challenge, another hilly event, organised by Axe Valley Runners and infamous for its refreshments afterwards. They were joined by juniors Lucia, Lucas’s younger sister, who ran the 1 mile route including ‘the evil hill’ with a huge smile on her face, Emily, who did her best to chase her older sister down in the 3 mile route and Marcus who missed a sign and accidently ended up running 5 miles in under 50 minutes!
Adrian Harris and Clare Bray experienced a very wet, windy and hilly half marathon last weekend. They took part in Dawlish Coaster’s Oh My Obelisk which involved 1,615 feet of elevation and plenty of mud! Adrian finished in 2:11:08,117th out of a field of 218 and Clare finished in 2:57:06.
