The Sidmouth 10k is an annual event organised by LME and sponsored by Bradleys Estate Agents. Being on the doorstep of many Sidmouth Running Club members it is an opportunity to enter the race itself or marshal creating a friendly, supportive atmosphere.
Starting and finishing at Sidford social hall, the runners go down the Byes, up Hillside, down Beatlands, over the bridge to the seafront, turn around at the end of the prom and return the way they came.
Despite the cheeky hills, it was a very quick 10k this year, with 12 of the 16 Mighty Greens finishing under the hour. First male SRC to finish was Colin Ryan in 45:57, 3rd in age category and 28th out of a field of 129 with Roger Worthington and Ieuan Lovett not far behind in 47:48 and 50:34 respectively.
Lucy Wyman was the first MG female to cross the finish line in 54:47, 3rd in age category and 28th overall with Emma Salter and Jo Kingston close behind in 55:16 and 56:08 respectively.
Special mention to Bob Huntington and Rob Edwards for finishing 2nd and 3rd in the 70+ age category in 56:53 and 59:19.
