Sidmouth Running Club’s Louise Dalton and Mark Andow have been training hard for the Manchester marathon and it certainly paid off. With last minute advice and a supply of gels from fellow MG and marathon man Richard King they headed up North on Saturday.
Louise set off in the 8.30am wave, under perfect weather conditions, and completed the reasonably flat marathon in an incredible 3:09:44, an average pace of 7.15 min miles and despite cramp for last 6 miles! Louise is delighted with her result as finishing 13th out of 799 in her age category qualifies her for the London marathon and other world majors-watch this space!
Mark Andow finished very strongly in 3:39:57, 6600 out of 27,977 runners and 287th out of 1156 in his age category. Both said it was a very friendly marathon from the crowds cheering on Sidmouth to fellow runners giving encouragement along the route.
