Spooky Runs and Sidmouth 10k

Sidmouth Running Club juniors Reuben Johnson and Jack Shepherd enjoyed the Halloween fun run at Haldon on Saturday evening.  Reuben knocked 3 minutes off last years’ time finishing second out of a field of 38 in 19:29 and Jack, who dressed for the occasion, finished in 19:29.  They both received a fabulous medal.

Junior Amelia Womersley entered the 5k Halloween run with parents Donna and Grahame. It was a test of nerves, running through the dark woods by torch light and anticipating zombies at any moment but the threesome stuck together and finished in 47:43 in one piece. They enjoyed the event very much and the ‘lush’ medal was the icing on the cake.

Unfortunately, junior Marcus Wieffer had to miss this event, one of his favourites, as he was visiting his grandparents in the Netherlands. But he was delighted to discover a park run, Van Heekpark, 10 minutes away from their house and was able to take part in his first international park run.

SRC’s Clare Bray (nee Luke) secretly got married in Penzance on Friday then nipped to Lands End on Saturday to take part in the park run with husband Adrian cheering her on-congratulations!

Closer to home 16 Mighty Greens took part in LME’s Sidmouth 10k and 6 marshalled.  The there and back route starts at Sidford and heads to the seafront through the Byes, relatively flat until you head up Hillside Road, always a shock to the system! Colin Ryan was the first male SRC to finish, 47th out of a field of 300 in 45:34, 3rd in his age category and Alison Williams the first female SRC to finish in 57:13.  It was great to see Rob Edwards back in action following an injury, he even finished 1st in his age category in 1:03:10. Results: Colin Ryan 45:34, Roger Worthington 49:40, Don Cawthera 53:55, Alison Williams 57:13, Naomi Garrick 57.46, Deb Cawthera 58:04, Adam Passmore 58:39, Emma salter 59:03, Becky McDonald 59:10, Bob Huntington 1:00:36, Rob Edwards 1:03:10, Christie Ward 1:03:55,
