Four Sidmouth Running Club juniors took part in the Beer Blazer Fun Run on Sunday, with Reuben Johnson finishing in 4th position in 5:57 out of a field of 82. Jack Shepherd finished in 7:43, Lucia Withecombe 8:26 and Amelia Womersley-Westlake in 9:51. Amelia had a busy weekend as she also took part in Exmouth park run with her mum and Junior leader, Donna and fellow junior Sam Thompson who finished in an incredible 22:41! Junior Marcus Wieffer also did the club proud setting a new course PB over at Seaton parkrun.
Amelia’s dad and junior leader, Grahame, put his training to the test over the weekend as he took part in Climb South West’s Devon Coast to Coast Ultra 100km. Starting at 9pm on Saturday from Chagford, Grahame had to navigate his way to the finish line at Lynmouth. Despite the intense heat which made refuelling very difficult the Mighty Green finished in 49th place out of a field of 68 in 17:33:31. Grahame is hoping his legs are in full working order for Wednesday’s junior session!
SRC’s Mark Andow followed on from the other week’s ultra in the Mendips with a return to Somerset for a very warm, sunny, friendly Westcountry Flat 50 mile ultra. It was one of 3 simultaneous events organised by Albion Running. The Mighty Green said it was a relatively small and select field from Taunton to Minehead and was pleased to finish in 10th position in 11:52:32 despite looking rather red and cooked by the sun.
