Sidmouth Running Club (SRC) is based at the Sidmouth Sailing Club premises. This is our base of operations and where we meet for the weekly runs, unless specified otherwise.

Salcombe Hill – Norman Lockyer Observatory CP (1.8miles)

From the Sailing Club go west along the esplanade and at the 2nd mini roundabout at the Bedford Hotel, take the second exit onto the B3176 Station Road. At the next mini roundabout at the Woodlands Hotel, take the 2nd exit onto All Saints Road, at the bottom of the road turn left and then right opposite the Radway Cinema onto Salcombe Road, over the bridge at the bottom and follow the road around the left hand bend onto Sid Road, take the first turning to the right, Salcombe Hill Road and drive to the top. Parking is at the Norman Lockyer Observatory on the left.

Peak Hill Carpark (1.3miles)

From the Sailing Club go west along the esplanade and follow the road straight up Peak Hill Road to the top. The car park is on the right hand side and is free.

Tipton St John, Playing field car park (4.5 miles)

From the Sailing Club go west along the esplanade and at the 2nd mini roundabout at the Bedford Hotel take the 2nd exit onto the B3176 Station Road following onto Bulverton Road. At the Bowd Inn take the first exit onto the A3052 sign post Ottery St Mary turn right onto the A3052 then immediately left onto Fire Beacon Lane sign post Tipton St John The Bowd Inn is now on your right. Travel along this road and at the first cross road, sign post Tipton St John turn left and follow the road through the village, pass The Golden Lion pub on your left the car park is opposite the Tipton Garage and free.

From the Sailing Club go west along the esplanade and at the 2nd mini roundabout at the Bedford Hotel, take the second exit onto the B3176 Station Road. At the next mini roundabout at the Woodlands Hotel take the 2nd exit onto All Saints Road, at the bottom of the road turn left and then right opposite the Radway Cinema onto Salcombe Road over the bridge at the bottom and follow the road around the left hand bend onto Sid Road keep on this road through Fortescue to the junction with the A3052 sign post Lyme Regis, turn right up the hill along the top and around a left hand bend at the first junction sign post Dunscombe / Weston turn right, at the mini roundabout turn left and continue. Take the 2nd junction on your right sign post Weston. Go pass the first few houses and on the left hand bend with barns in front of you the car park is on the right which is free.

The Kings Arms Otterton (8 miles/3.8 miles)

From the Sailing Club go west along the esplanade and at the 2nd mini roundabout at the Bedford Hotel, take the 2nd exit onto the B3176 Station Road following onto Bulverton Road. At the Bowd Inn, take the 2nd exit and turn left onto the A3052 sign post Exeter.

Follow the road into Newton Poppleford. At the far end of the village at the mini roundabout take the 1st exit onto the B3178 signpost Exmouth. Continue along this road through Colaton Raleigh and pass Bicton College. After Bicton College at the first cross road, Brick Cross, there is a brick column with a cross on the top, turn left, sign post Otterton onto Sleap Hill and leading onto Fore Street, over the bridge, pass Otterton Mill on the right and the village green on your left and The Kings Arms is on your left.

Parking is on the main road and free.


 

Alternatively for the less nervous driver, the road is narrow and windy with passing places.

3.8 miles

From the Sailing Club go west along the esplanade and follow the road straight up Peak Hill Road to the top and continue along this road straight into Otterton. The Kings Arms is on your right towards the end of the village.

Joney’s Cross – Hawkerland Hill car park (6 miles)

From the Sailing Club go west along the esplanade and at the 2nd mini roundabout at the Bedford Hotel, take the 2nd exit onto the B3176 Station Road following onto Bulverton Road. At the Bowd Inn take the second exit and turn left onto the A3052 sign post Exeter.

Follow the road into Newton Poppleford. At the far end of the village at the mini roundabout take the 2nd exit, sign post A3052 Exeter and continue on up the hill to the top, continue for about 50 metres then at the junction turn left and then immediately left into the car park which is free.

At the Bowd Inn take the second exit and turn left onto the A3052 sign post Exeter. The lay-by is about 25 metre up the road on the right hand side.
