Best foods to eat during a marathon I'm planning on running fast so quick easy bits? ... See MoreSee Less

Comment on Facebook

Hamburgers cheeseburgers pizza kebabs they are all fast foods

Raisins, dates, almonds, banana chips, coconut water, wine gums, dried apricots!

Jess, to run fast you can't physically eat, it has to be gels and it's a case of finding the brand that suits you best. For me it's Gu gels

For that distance i find a couple of gels - (my personal fav are Torque for the flavours-) but i carry my own water with electrolyte (high 5) too

Have to go with Justin And Danny, gels all the way, I use sis or high5, worth trying some to see how you react as some make me feel a bit sick! Just make sure you fuel properly beforehand.

Peanut butter sarmie

Flapjack

Nuts

Never use gels now 🙂

If you're doing it fast fast then maybe a gel or two x

If you can't tolerate gels then try Clif blocks. Although when I've looked at ingredients they are very close to wine gums! I'd use water and energy drink provided on the course rather than carry your own. If however you weren't running fast then real food trumps every time. Depends how good you are at digesting solids.

I do have some clif blocks they are really good!! I've just ordered a load of stuff to try out!! I'd be ok the first part eating but by mile 18 id be feeling sick so it would have to be blocks or gels.

For me flapjack, jaffa cakes, banana if off road or one I'm bimbling along. For maximum pace and effort, gels every time, high 5 my personal choice. Instant energy.

Roast pig with an apple in its mouth on a silver dish...... actually no

Peanut butter and jam sandwiches on granary bread, small squares for ease of eating. I can't do gels as they lead to embarrassing incidents 😳😳. Helps me beat Nigel Donk Maeer every time.

Does anyone do triathlons? Tips for how to get started please? Im not sure how it works, I'm hoping now is a good time to join a local club and start training so I'd be OK enough to do some events next spring. 😊 ... See MoreSee Less

Loads of money for equipment . Start small and work up . Exeter has a tri group

Justin and I have done them, happy to share advice and the local club is N1 Tri.

Thanks guys. It looks fun! I will get in touch with N1

Good for you Janice Ranson, thoroughly recommend giving to a go. Joining a local club will definitely give you the motivation to get started too.

Do get in touch with N1. It's a really friendly welcoming local club. Do you need a road bike ? I have an entry level road bike you are welcome to borrow and then buy if it suits you. Very happy to get you started

Hi everyone. My name is Matthew Meek, a fire fighter from sidmouth / exeter. I have been delivering indoor cycling sessions to fire and ambulance service for a while and thought sidmouth would also be a great place to teach. I am opening a studio at Alexandria ind estate (sidmouth) with a grand opening 11th of November. I currently run sessions at stowford community centre Tuesday and Friday nights 7:30 and 8:40 I also teach Thursday mornings 7am and Saturday multiple sessions. I would be happy to run a running club exclusive session if you wish or you can book on to sessions already running. Please discuss and let me know if you would like an evening to your selves. Check out sbstudios.co.uk for loads of info.
