Devon Cross Country Championship

Five junior members of Sidmouth Running Club made it through to the final held at Stover School, Newton Abbot last Saturday and all came away with exceptional results of which they should be proud, competing against schools from all over Devon. There were around 400 competitors over the various races. It was an achievement in itself that they all made it to the final having to go through the qualifying races at School, East Devon, then Exeter and East Devon.

It was a tough course which claimed several victims due to the muddy, slippery conditions

Toby Garrick year 10 competing against year 11 came 6th.

Katie Marriot year 8 came 13th beating many who had beaten her in the qualifying heats.

Ollie Beech year 6 competing against year 7 came 9th

Jo Ashby year 7 came 21st

Molly Garrick year 7 came 24th

Toby and Ollie will now represent Devon at the South West Schools competition in Cheltenham in February.

Sidmouth Running Club congratulates them all.

Mighty Green Ambassadors

As the AGM/awards eve is on 6th March we'll cut the MGA short to 11 months this year as even I think it's a little mean to insist that you squeeze in a run in the first 6 days of March. Your March entries will therefore count towards next years scheme. Hurry, hurry and get your Feb entries in by the end of the month so we can work out final numbers for the AGM.
We currenltly have 11 Mighty Green Ambassadors who can look forward to their stylish prizes. Hopefully a whole new group of people will take up the challenge this year- a run a month is more achievable than you think, and don't forget volunteering at run events counts too .
What is it all about? The aim is for all club members to represent SRC at least once every month by taking part in a running event or by representing SRC as a volunteer at a race or social event. Each event only counts once (different park runs are counted as different events) and although the aim is for one each month you only need to collect 10 over the 12 month period (2 months allowed for holidays or injury). However only one event per month counts towards the 10.
